The Graduate School in POLSIS offers a broad range of options to choose from. Many lecturers in the Graduate School have practical experience in the international sector and have worked and studied in many countries. The Graduate School often works with business people, politicians, diplomats, military personnel and other experts in their fields. Taught Masters programmes last for one year, and comprise a taught component and a research component.
To complete the taught component, you will be required to study one compulsory module and two optional modules, from the wide range of modules offered by the Department.
To complete the research component, you will write a dissertation of 12,500 words on the Political Science or International Studies topic of your choice, under the supervision of a member of academic staff. You will select your dissertation topic in March and turn in your final draft in late September.
Taught Diploma programmes run from September to June and comprise a taught component only.
To complete the Taught Diploma you are required to study one core and two optional modules. You are not required to produce a dissertation.
Candidates for the Diploma may transfer onto the Masters programme at the conclusion of the taught component, providing they have attained a satisfactory standard of work.
